Gas 2

May 23, 2008

I have read many blogs and traditional web sites that tell the causes of  the rising  gas prices. But the only advice they give for dealing with it are to grin and bear it. Do nothing about the people responsible for the outrageous rise. Speculators, or the politicians who aide and abet them. What gives? Everyone have a wish to go back to the horse and bugy? I hate to break this to you but the good old days were not good.

The price in human suffering was great and could be again. Everyone wants to help victims of this or that. I think the best way to do that is to turn the present crop of politicos out. The best way to help victims all over the world is not to join them.

The so called damage to the environment that would result from drilling our own oil and building new gas refineries is not going to matter if we don’t survive to complain about it.

This would be a short term solution.  In the long run we have to develop alternative forms of energy. And bio this or that is not it. Using our food for fuel? Bad idea.

Rising Gas Prices

May 11, 2008

Now why would the price of gas rise so suddenly?
I’ve heard all kinds of excuses.
However, all of the so called reasons given fail to ring true.
Why? Well these things have always happened. They did not start yesterday.

So why are they rising now?
Maybe, we are not being told the truth.
They say the price went up because of a strike. Is this the first strike by oil workers? I doubt that!
They say the price went up because of damage caused by a storm. Is this the first time? I doubt that!
They say this and they say that but I do not think they say the truth.

Is it amazing that certain public figures start crusading for higher prices? And it just suddenly happens.
Do you think that certain public polices might have something to do with it?
Oh it couldn’t be that. It must be the will of the gods, random chance.
It could not possibly be caused deliberately or even by simple incompetence.

The size of our oil reserves doubled with the discovery of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. The price of gas went up.  Supply and demand my butt. The strike ended the price of gas went up. The storm damage is repaired and the price of gas went up. So excuse the hell out of me if I have a hard time believing the media or the government about what is causing the rise in price.
